Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church:

The Community Nursery School is a community outreach mission of the church. Our nursery school is contained within the church building and is governed by a Board of Directors, the majority of which is comprised of PUMC members.

We do NOT include specific, denominational religious teachings in our classrooms. However, Christian concepts are discussed, along with a variety of culturally diverse issues.  For example, during the CNS Holiday sing-along, Christmas is celebrated as the birth of Christ, along with some songs, customs and traditions of other major religions. Throughout the year, traditional moral values are integrated within the program. An example of this is our "thank you" poem that the children recite at snack time. Qualities such as tolerance, compassion,  empathy and generosity are constantly modeled and encouraged in our classrooms and on our playground.

Also, throughout the school year, children and their families will have the opportunity to participate in many church-sponsored charity events and programs which help people and organizations within our community.

Our "thank you" poem....

"Thank you for the food before.
Family, friends and love around around us."
